Wanna Be Bollywood Actor? Shah Rukh Khan's 15 Years Of Fight

How to be a Bollywood actor?
Struggling actors and the fight of King Khan

Want To Be An Actor? Are You Ready For a Prolonged Struggle Like SRK?

Shah Rukh Khan known as SRK, is an Indian film actor, producer and television personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 100 Bollywood films and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in whole of Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the most successful film stars in the world. Source

A boy from a middle-class family whose parents did not have enough money to take him to the movies has become “King Khan”. Shah Rukh khan, who has seen endless struggles in his life – he has slept on streets, struggled to support himself and his sister at a very young age. He even lost his parents very early which led to his sister seeking mental health support. Between all the chaos and challenges, he kept pushing himself, and today he stands tall as the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’. Certainly, those years weren’t easy for him. Success doesn’t come easy, what made him a star was his acceptance of failure and the urge to improve. (Manohar, 2012)

 From His Early Days

He not only saw failure but poverty too, especially after his parents’ demise. He vocally admits that he took on less creative work to overcome poverty. Some of the films which he accepted were rejected by big stars, but he took them on to avoid unemployment. Shah Rukh strongly believes that failure is a part of life, he believes that the true road to success is not just the desire for success but fear of failure and that if you don’t enjoy and be scared of your failure you will never succeed.
According to him, one needs to pass through some stages of failure in order to succeed. We might whimper about a successful superstar and his genuine tussle with failure. We believe that only a person who has been through adversity has all the rights to voice it out.

He believes it’s not the absence of failure that makes one successful, but it’s one response to it,  (AIMA speech, 2014).

Which is actually so real for e.g. If we keep on thinking that nothing can be done, or ask why did it happen to me? Then surely we are falling into the trap of failure, while on the other hand if we learn from our failure, and accept it as a part of life and move on, we become strong individuals. We chase success and we want to live successful lives.

His Career

Khan began his career with appearances in the several television series in the late 1980s. Then joined Bollywood. His first hit was  Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), after a struggle period of 15 years. Source

Here is what Shah Rukh Khan told to Avijit Ghosh of Times Of India long back in an interview

Question by Avijit Ghosh:
Real stardom takes about 10 years to achieve?

Answer:
"Minimum!
Yeh mujhe Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) ne bataya tha. "Aatth (8) saal tak tum Hindustan mein star nahi ban sakte. Ab to thoda jaldi ho jata hai, kyunki reach zyada ho gayi hai'. He had further told me- "Shah Rukh, desh ko aath saal lagte hain tumko jaanne mein.
Let me elaborate on a small incident. I had gone to meet a friend in south Delhi. He wasn't there. I wrote a small note saying, I came, and gave it to the watchman.  The watchman looked at me and said,
'have you written your name on it?'
I looked at him and said, 'yes'.
Then he said, 'have you written the address?' .
I said, ji.
He said, 'also write what is it that you do'.
And I stood there and thought there is still one man, a security guard in a posh Delhi locality, who does not know me. So I still have to work. It's been 20 years but there's still one man in this country who doesn't know me. So I need to work harder". Source

How To Get Auditions Sitting At Home | Free Resources

How to get audition info sitting at home
Audition notices in India

As A Beginner Or Working Actor Do You These Facts On Auditions?

You have a good portfolio with a headshot, or something close. You have painfully prepared and filmed a monolog, or maybe two and filmed a “video introduction” as well, just to be safe. You know what type of character you play best, but you need a chance to perform in a real production.
One of the staggering facts of the acting business, especially for beginners, is that roles don’t come to actors; actors must go to roles. The only way to land a role is to audition, and to audition, actors have to find the opportunities. Some actors have artist coordinators (So called, casting directors) who do the bulk of the search for them but even represented actors can pursue auditions for themselves.
How does an aspiring actor find the role that makes them a star? Where are new auditions posted? We all have to start somewhere. Many do not know that many of auditions are posted online every day. Some require a fee to gain access, but plenty are free to submit, you just have to know where to look.

One strong suggestion-Search for roles by physical attributes, age, character, location etc before you apply or barge in an open audition

The Single Factor To Win Auditions And Grab A Role

Showing anger with clenched teeth

The Casting Director And An Actor's Dilemma In Auditions

  • Everyone on this earth is a deviate and has a distinct  personality. An actor has to play a character, but everything is ultimately filtered through actor's body and mind.
  • From an audition point of view, the process can take as little as few hours or as long as for days. The casting director's objective is to find a right actor to fit into a role, he/she has visualized. You got your lines and analyzed it, then studied the character, set the objectives of each of your lines, recreated the character's  profile from your sense memory, have put yourself into character- his physical attributes, voice, rhythm, mannerism etc...
  • But you are not alone. There are may be 30 or more who got an audition call for the same role and if all of you think on the same lines and prepared for the audition in a similar fashion, changing your psyche and other attributes as per the character, then why a casting director should call 20 or 40 aspirants and select one out of so many?
  • He/she call may be one or two and finalize?
  • Therefore what is hidden? When you do not know what is in a casting director's mind, what can you do?

The Secret Of Being Unique

In an audition when everybody is speaking the same lines forcing themselves as a "character', trying to perform in the same way, it becomes a monotonous exploration for a casting director. What a casting director may be looking is a character conceived by him or the story writer "with a difference" or "with sparkle".

So what you do?

  • Firstly, find out what attributes of you match with that of a character and what do not (congruent and non  congruent with the character)
  • Secondly, push  those traits of you not matching with the character into background (remove)
  • Thirdly, develop matching attributes with varied emotions or attitudes
Let me explain the above with an example:

I got 10 lines of an angry man reacting to an abuse. I know the character has to be a bit loud and the rhythm of speech has to be faster with exaggerated facial responses. Now my voice is thin, rhythm slow but I'm good at expressions. I would not be silly to change my voice tone nor rhythm. Will focus on developing my expressions further, will speak with my low voice slowly, may be with hissing through clenched teeth.

Don’t be afraid of your instincts. If you’re trying to please everyone, you can easily lose what is special about you and end up pleasing no one. Always stay within the parameters of what’s organically honest for the role, the scene, and the world you’re portraying, but if a choice strikes you as particularly funny or poignant, don’t be afraid of it!

Obviously, those choices won’t always be on the mark for what “they” want, but you aren't a mind reader and we don’t expect you to be! Casting directors simply want you to come in with a well-defined, intelligent performance. If you’re right for the role, then the director will guide you from there.
In this way, in your career, perhaps you may lose some roles but it should not discourage you. The same guy "YOU" will get you roles that for sure will make your career
This is truer for Bollywood auditions
(However, this does not mean that you should stop imagining about "IF" I'm that person or you should forget about your own life experiences or your "observations" and preparing for an audition.  All I'm saying is to be in a character maintaining your individuality)

6 Steps On How To Kiss In A Scene And Be A Romantic Actor

How to kiss in a scene and be a romantic actor
A kiss in Bollywood film

I love romance scenes and wanna be a romantic actor
Okay. Then read below and be one

Having your first kiss is awkward enough, but having your first kiss with a whole crew standing around you is even more uncomfortable. While acting for the camera, a romantic scene may have re-takes of a shot. For some actors, this experience is too scary! Some refuse to kiss which probably may affect their opportunities in films with similar scenes.

Newbie Kriti Kharbanda, who is making her Bollywood debut with horror film “Raaz Reboot,” says kissing on-screen was a tough task for her.

However, any actor who wants to perform regularly and is career conscious will probably fall into a kissing role sooner or later

My suggestion does not mark boundaries for the reason that you do not want to limit yourself and mess up your dream of stardom. Just accept and learn how to!

Requirements

  1. As I mentioned above, becoming a romantic actor requires good looks.
  2. Becoming a romantic actor is not going to be easy. It is, in fact, more difficult than becoming a regular actor.
  3. A romantic actor must have a charm and appeal that causes women to swoon every time he appears on stage or screen. In short: a romantic actor must be good looking. There are exceptions, of course, but they are rare.
  4. To become a romantic actor it is important to realize that looks are going to be as important as talent.
  5. Romantic characters are usually difficult to act out because the scenes that are shot in these films require guts and boldness, especially for an actress. Intimate scenes with unknown men have always been a troubled affair for actresses since long. Therefore, learn to be very close to your co-stars
  6. What would you say the most common and essential traits are among romance heroes and heroines?
  7. Develop acting technique to portray Faithfulness, Honor, Strength,  Strong Creative Emotions and an ability to exhibit Instant sexual urge and orgasms.

6 Steps on how to kiss in a scene

  1. Don't have a bad breath.
  2. Kiss on upper or lower lip missing mouth slightly.
  3. Take it as a mechanical task with no romantic implications (If uncomfortable, fake romantic emotions)
  4. Understand the type of kiss. The script offers clues, but in the end, this is up to the director. It should be clear whether you are acting out a romantic kiss, a lustful embrace, a quick welcome home kiss, or some other approach. Depending on the camera setup, you may not even be required to make lip contact with the other actor.
  5. If you're acting out a passionate kiss, you can close your eyes right before it happens. This looks romantic, but may also help you imagine the scene
  6. Imagine someone else. If you're having trouble making the kiss look believable, imagine that you're kissing someone you want to kiss
 Join us to learn

Things You'll Need

  1. A good coordinator, especially the one who deals primarily with Bollywood films/ Feature films by independent producers. Maybe a second coordinator who deals with recommending actors for serials and commercials
  2. Physical coach:. Join a gym and work on your body and face
  3. Acting coach:: Who should be able to coach you not only on how to be a good actor/ actress, teach you on how to be a romantic actor and also will coach you on mannerism, how to deal with people, language, attitude etc. Ask the coach what types of romantic roles he/she  thinks you are suitable. Listen to coach's advice and act.
  4. Work on your image. Ask female friends what they think of your style. How would they describe you? Are you the good-looking geek? The rugged hunk? Romantic actors tend to be typecast. Work out which stereotype you most resemble and work towards achieving this image fully.
  5. Research romantic actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan or Anushka Sharma. Find out how they managed themselves. Try to learn from their life stories. Network with people involved in producing romantic comedies.
  6. Get and go to auditions. You are never going to become a romantic actor if nobody knows who you are. Go for any role going. Don't be too selective. Heartthrobs start out in the most unlikely of places. It is more important that you get on screen if you want to become a romantic actor.
  7. Then have patience and wait for a plum role to come along.

Still Struggling? Kick Out Your 7 Bad Habits Before New Year

Bad habits of actors and how to bet rid of them
Bad habits: New Year resolution of  TV star Sneha Wagh and Gaurav S. Bajaj

Actors! Get Rid Of These 7 Bad Habits Before New Year If You Want Success

I sympathize with you and myself. It's not a sin to have a bad habit. Everybody has but quietly can start destroying your career and happiness. So, let's kick them out

Do You have These Bad Habits?

    1. Dominating a conversation. Everyone wants to be heard but some just go on speaking
    2. Overthinking and brooding on any subject. Most of the times it makes you sad, drags you and wastes time.
    3. Over-attachment with people. Rule No. 1-Focus on yourself
    4. The habit of delaying (procrastination). You will never do it if you don’t do it now
    5. Lying and cheating yourself because you dare not face the truth
    6. Finding excuses for yourself and other people
    7. Spending too much time on social media like FaceBook

4 Steps on How to Break a Bad Habit

1 Be aware. Consciously focusing on everything, even small you do and identify THAT bad habit

2 Write down -This is my bad habit I WILL through it out before the new year

    3. Substitute it with a good habit. For example, instead of biting nail or smoking , try chewing gum or some other mouth freshener.

    4. Finally, I strongly recommend Meditation, self-hypnotism and auto-suggestion techniques. This definitely helps. Learn from us

A few of our TV Serial actors talk about their habits which they want to get rid off and what does the New Year mean to them.

Sneha Wagh-I wants to give up taking people at face value and sweets. New Year means fresh perspective on your priorities and goals and finding happiness.

Piyush Sahdev-I wants to give up nail biting and also want to learn to forgive easily and also want to try to sleep early. A new year means a new beginning for me, new hopes and aspirations. I also plan on buying assets as the new year begins so the new year is big for me.

Gaurav S. Bajaj- I will not give up but I'll reduce the no. of cups of tea in a day. I drink 5-7 cups of tea in a day usually. Late night eating habit. When I watch films at home. I grab so much unwanted stuff from the fridge and hog like a dog ice creams, Namkeens, and chips etc.

Shivin Narang - I would like to take a control on fattening food and second habit is I would more focus on my fitness.  New Year arrival means new chapter for me

Rishina Kandhari - Life is a book and every year is a new chapter full new challenges and opportunities and I would like to score my 100% in it. Two things I would like to change will be A-under estimating my abilities towards myself andB- spending money like a spendthrift.  I will save as much as I can.

Gunjan Utreja - I want to sleep early. It's been long I have not slept before 4 am. And that's a bad habit  because  I wake up early as well.  I want to give up my fetish for sweets. I cannot resist chocolates and Gulab jamun. Change of date doesn't mean anything to me. It's just another milestone and gives you an opportunity to measure the distance you have come in your life. I believe life is to be lived not measured.

Shashank Vyas -Pray  to God and mom on 1st of January that makes me a better person and asks for good health.

Why It's Critical For An Actor To Practice Observation

    Observing people

Let me come straight to the point.

Why an actor should indulge in “observation”?

    For Survival!

An actor’s observation is a very important trigger to their  imagination. It is something that will help any aspiring actor to become more aware of their surroundings and little details. It develops their sense memory data bank, the power of imagination and eventually their ability to create and transform into a script’s character convincingly.

Professional actors have become amazing observers and this is how they are able to put themselves in
other people’s shoes and gives them the opportunity to act out other roles. Actors who are just starting out will be able to do roles that fit their personality the most but this does not mean that you will be doing the same roles forever. To become a better, you must improve your observation skills and it will help you become the best actor ever.

It is my favorite because it’s easy. You do not need a rehearsal space, special equipment, or a
dedicated time. It is called “observing,” and I’m pretty sure I’m not the first one to tell you about it.
But it is such an important tool so I think it’s worth considering.

So where can one go to practice?

Anywhere! Park, mall, tourist spots, In a metro train while traveling,  restaurants, museums,
busy streets, stadiums, shops… You don’t even have to plan anything ahead, just use the
opportunity when it arises. When you’re on a bus in the morning, observe. When standing in
the queue for coffee, observe. When having lunch in a cozy cafe, pay attention to how people
behave, how they react to different kinds of situations, and what are they like.

    Exercise

    A.
Pick one person out of the crowd let’s say in a metro train or bus you are traveling and
focus on them. Give him/her a name. Let’s say for the purpose of this article, he’s Mohan.
How old is he? What does she look like? What kind of personality do you think he has? What
makes him stand out from the rest in the place? Why did you pick him? What do you think
he’s thinking at this very moment and why? Any specific actions on her part?

Then the true fun begins. A journey into imagination. Try to imagine the life of this person,
who must be your hero by now." What does A do for a living? Does A have a family? Where is
A going now? What is the biggest problem A has to solve? What is A dreaming about? If you
would dramatize A's life, what type of film/ play would it be? A love story? A drama? A
comedy? Why? Imagine a scene with A. Imagine the way he/she talks. Go in your mind as
detailed as you can (depending on how many metro stops you have, of course). The secret is
not to invent random things. Everything you come up with has to have a reason reflected in
the real person in front of you.
This is the time to do as much observation and indulge in a creative imagination as you can.

    B.
Once you are at home, write down your thoughts, be that person and practice

    C.
Apart from a person you can observe anything you see, like animal, store, things from nature,
building etc and continue with the above exercise

Observation is an amazing tool that actors can never survive without. Things like these will
train your imagination and return fresh, new, unseen and interesting results and characters
that you can later use in your acting work. Always try your best to put them aside somewhere
in your mental closet — you might just need your Mohan someday.
Start from now itself. Pick up something and begin the fun!

2 Simple Ways To Be A Great Actor With Convincing Act

How Act To Be "Real" And Be In The Character
How Act To Be "Real" And Be In The Character

    Sorry, Your Acting Looks Fake!

The Key Of Acting 'Real' And Look Convincing To Audience

One of the top directors I knew who visited my coaching session, stated that when he’s casting for a role, he’s looking for “someone who is not acting but a real character.” Judging from everything I know about casting and the industry, this is definitely true.

    • At the same time, one of the most effective things you can do as an actor is to reject “trying hard” to be a character:

While imagining yourself “IF' you are that character, be so real that your partner, audience, casting director, director, producer, etc., can't tell whether you're acting or really talking as a character.

Cultivating such a level of “realness” in your acting craft is so awesome and staggering to casting directors in auditions, directors during a 'Take' or audience, that it creates a natural feel in them and gives the appearance that you are speaking with no trace of acting.

This is one of the greatest gifts that you can give to the entire production, as it causes the directors, writers, and producers to look at you with a sense of wonder and envy.

In my opinion, the difference between “good” and “great” acting is the actor who starts every scene lit up and is emotionally full, instead of bein flawless but with emptiness, requiring warm up and perhaps re-takes as they go. This “real” creates a strong platform from which an actor can take the film to incredible heights who acts in a way that seems so natural that everyone is pulled in the film, without any stench of acting technique or being filmic.

It doesn’t reek of the stench of acting technique or preparation. A great example of this is the opening scene of the Oscar-winning film “Birdman.” The film begins with a group of actors sitting around a table on a stage, seemingly having a discussion. As the conversation progresses and the camera moves, we realize they’re actually having a table read and acting dialogue from a play. This example so vividly demonstrates the elegance and ease that truly seamless acting can present: It can look startlingly real.

    How to Begin

    1. Be A Blank Canvas

After all preparation and seeds of “character” have been planted inside the actor, the bravest “act” an actor can do is to be a “blank canvas” and exist moment-by-moment, just like life!
When an actor gets a confidence of “can be the character instantly”, he should forget everything and be a true self. Just a blank slate, an empty glass.
In life, you truly don’t know what the person you’re talking to is going to say or do. You can achieve this dynamic on stage or on screen as well. Some actors protest and say that the script prevents that sense of wonder and spontaneity, but I disagree. If you really are in the moment (in a story, scene, with changing rhythm and emotions) but allowing yourself to be a blank canvas which responds truthfully to what’s happening before you, you really will respond in a natural manner as if you don’t know what you’re partner is going to say or do.
The great actors learn by practicing mind exercises and has a “switch on-off" mind and feel so real (and presumably uncertain), that they feel like life. You can create a combined sense of fear, uncertainty, and the unknown—all of which are so captivating to watch.

    2. Simple Exercise of Keeping It Real

Phone a friend, family member, or acquaintance and let them know you’re going to play a little game as you have the phone conversation. The game is that you’re going to interject lines of your dialogue into the conversation but you’re not going to tell them when you’re doing it. The challenge is to see if the person on the other line can tell when you’re speaking from the script and when you’re really speaking to them. Apart from adding your script lines in the conversation, the conversation engaging the other person could be anything bullshit. I guarantee this session will make you more aware of when you’re being real and fully engaged with emotional fullness and when you’re not.

Is Your Body Language Good Or Bad? Know It, Improve And Win

How actors can succeed with good body language
How actors can succeed with good body language

Are You Aware Of Your Body Language? Is it Good or Bad?
Oh! I'm sorry but what's the need?
Your Body Language Tells Who You Are.That's The Reason

How you move your body has a language of its own, and one that is interpreted by others non-stop. Your body language whether you seek more influence and success in your professional acting life or more intimacy and transparency in your personal or love life, your body language is crucial.

The entertainment industry in India is very particular about noticing actors quickly and keenly when they first meet them for the first time. Here the body language of an actor plays a vital role in creating a good or a bad impression!

If you want personal and professional success, let me give you 4 of the most important body language “expressions,” so that you can know yourself, change and easily live the life of an actor you desire.

    1. Do your eyes say “Welcome!” or “Get lost!”?

Oftentimes the first form of connection with another person will be through your eye contact. Clearly, narrowing your eyes suspiciously will convey that you are initially closed to another. By contrast, warm, relaxed eyes, and an easy slow smile when you encounter someone, will make them feel welcome and accepted.

    How to correct?
Just feel and say to yourself "I like you,and happy to meet you". Your eyes will sparkle and convey the same.

    2. Is your chest open to the other or closed off?

Think about a person with arms crossed tightly over their chest. Do they feel warm, receptive and friendly? Or guarded and judgmental?
    Of course closed and guarded!

    How to correct?
Uncross your arms, and don't hold anything in front of you (like a drink, or books or folders). This will signal that you’re open to interact with people and ready to face what the world brings, whatever it brings.

    3. How is your posture?

Think of those actors who hunch their shoulders with head drooping down. The easiest way to put off the other and person you are meeting! If your weight is uneven and stand on one leg with the other bent a bit, you convey a lack of sureness, a lack of solidity.

    How to correct?
Think military posture. Think a straight spine. Think eye-level.  Think feet planted solidly on the ground, with your weight evenly distributed. This kind of posture conveys strength, solidity, alertness and confidence.

    4. What is your tone of words?

Words matter, but the meaning is always dependent upon tonality (your tone of how you utter words). For example, if you say "I will give my best shot" with indecisive tone or use a sarcastic tone for a "thank you" comment, the meaning could be negative and may terminate opportunities. It’s the same with daily expressions such as “No,” or “I disagree.” Try speaking these lines with multiple emotions, and you’ll see how important tonality is.

How to improve your speaking tone?
Question yourself "Is my tone of what I speak bad or negative or hurting?". The best is to ask this question to your friends, your spouse or love-mate. You may get the truth. Practice speaking with gentleness, positivity and with a mild smile on your lips.

    My personal tips

    5. Touching a person as a personal "touch"

When people communicate, it’s out of a desire to connect with each other — even if for a brief moment. To raise the level of connection people to feel with you, try establishing a "touch". Now, there are many kinds of touch — and (warning) some of it may be unwelcome by some!
To create a sense of appropriateness, start slow. Simply high-fiving (greet someone by slapping the palms of their raised arms with one's own) the person when you both agree on something you really like.
Or, at a moment of agreement or laughter or sudden closeness or understanding you can briefly touch someone’s upper arm. A simple touch like that is usually not felt as intrusive and it can quickly deepen the connection that you’re having with another person.

    6. Are we standing far apart or close?

Whether you know it or not, the physical distance that you’re close or far away from a person influences the kind of impact you have on them. The closer you are to a person when you’re communicating, the deeper the connection will be felt between the both of you. If you’re farther away, the lesser the connection will be.

    7. Here’s another intimacy trick of the trade.

Instead of standing directly opposite someone, which can create a primal “confrontation” feeling (especially if you physically larger), try standing to a person’s side and speaking with them, which half-looking out at the world together. It’ll have the both of you feel as if you’re a team.

7 Solid Basis Why An Actor Must Learn Dancing For Good Acting

Dancing is essential for actor's success
    Dance... Dance and Just Dance!

To Attain Success As An Actor
What are the benefits of dancing for an actor and in general, the human brain?

Plenty of studies proves that this physical activity is the best “brain enhancers and sharpener” especially for actors which help them to keep ahead in an environment of fierce competition and proofs keep coming.
In fact, a recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine proves that dancing is one of the best exercises meant to improve “cognitive abilities” of a human brain, including creativity.
(Cognitive functioning is a term referring to a human's ability to process of thinking (thoughts). It  mainly refers to things like memory, the ability to learn new information, speech, understanding of written material. )

    1. What does that mean for you?

    • When an actor engages in dancing, it’s mainly with the aim to maintain a good body figure. Once you realize that dancing can help you focus and memorize lines more easily, this activity becomes much more attractive. Does it not?
    • It doesn’t matter whether you’re ten or eighty years old; the benefits are the same for every age. Cognitive skills help you remember things, read, think, and learn new things.
    • All these brain activities are meant to digest information and transform it into basic knowledge.
    • Basically, without these skills, you’d have a hard time remembering the script.

    2. How do body movements make you more focused?

    • Dancing improves blood circulation, allowing your brain to receive more oxygen and glucose. These effects automatically boost your brain’s functions and make it healthier. If your brain is healthier, your chances of developing mental problems like tension, forgetfulness, fear, tiredness, breathlessness,  irritability in auditions, during a shoot or in life decrease considerably.
    • You won’t have to worry about abandoning acting too early because of memory decaying with age, something that happened to  even top Hollywood stars like Marlon Brando and Jack Nicholson.
    • Dancing can help you keep it fresh. The same study mentioned earlier shows how a regular dancer has 76% fewer chances of developing dementia. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

    3. An Actor Has to Be Smart. Dancing Can Boost Your Intelligence!

    • When you dance, you use more brain functions at the same time like emotional, rational, kinesthetic (a learning style in which learning takes place by the students carrying out physical activities, rather than listening to a lecture or watching demonstrations.) , and musical functions are present every time you perform dancing. Remember, especially as an actor, dancing is believed to be one of the most complex sports, and that is because it requires intelligence and cognitive skills.
    • Intelligence is more about making quick and smart decisions (an extremely important ability of an actor to transform into different characters, emotions, and situations while improvisating in auditions or in a take, rather than knowing a lot of things).
    • Dancers are known to be “bodily-intelligent”. The quick definition of this term would be the ability to quickly convert thoughts and emotions into action.

    4. Daily Shoots Are Tough. Dancing Makes You Relaxed.

    • Apart from its intelligence boosting benefit, dancing is also extremely beneficial for actors who deal with a lot of stress in their lives.
    • When you dance, your body flushes out many body toxins that build up in time. These toxins are the main causes of stress, and the more you move your body and practice this amazing activity, the more you reduce the stress in your body and mind.
    • Here, dancing is  similar to doing yoga.
    • Life isn’t easy for most of us and necessary daily activities and film / TV shoots don’t actually help your brain relax. Dancing is a useful distraction from all that’s happening around you because it doesn’t let you think of anything else except what move you should do next.

    5. You’ll Memorize the Scripts Easily!

    • Here’s something you didn’t know: dancing is proven to increase your long-term memory by sparking brain cells that are responsible for gaining knowledge. The process is called neurogenesis (growth and development of new brain cells), and their main role is to connect your thoughts.
    • Our memory is created and maintained by billions of electric active cells (neurons). Whenever you dance, these connections somehow grow stronger and therefore strengthen the memory muscles found in your cerebellum.
    • It makes sense considering the fact that whenever you learn a specific blocking move during a shoot, or a theater move, or a dance move, your brain has to remember the exact movements and steps that you’re about to perform on camera to maintain continuity for subsequent takes.

    6. More Happiness + Less Anxiety = Better Acting

    • Your mood is mostly influenced by the number of endorphins released in your brain. All that stress you go through on a daily basis doesn’t do you well.
    • Film /TV Directors or casting directors are expecting you to give your best during every single scene you perform, and they have certain ideas about the way you should behave on camera or on stage in public. You simply need an activity that helps you relax, and dancing is the perfect choice to make.

    7. Just Dance Dance And Dance!

    • You don’t have to join a dancing school is a talented dancer in order to get all these amazing benefits. Most people aren’t, and most of the studies mentioned above have dealt with regular people who practiced dancing as a hobby.
    • Of course, if you’re a really good dancer, you have more chances of exhibiting these empowering effects causes by this healthy activity. So don’t forget to practice more and get better with time. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the next star of a dance-themed movie?
    • If you want to convince yourself of the great benefits you can gain by moving your body to the rhythm of the music, then make dancing a regular habit and adapt it to your lifestyle as soon as possible. The results will appear immediately. After only one session of dancing, you’ll most certainly feel more active, focused, energized, and relaxed. Source
