What Should Be My Action Plan To Get Acting Jobs  In Films and TV?
Here Is Your Action Plan For Success

9 Essential Steps

  • Identify and procure names and contact details I got it here for you
  • Keep ready your best portfolio, resume, video introduction (2 minutes), show-reel (clips if done some films or serials) or film through your mobile any scene
  • Start e-mailing to all with no expectations
  • Learn developing networking and public relation techniques like how to talk, smile, language, voice dress and deal with people at all levels. Be charming. Please note that in the beginning,  you may not be able to meet top people like producer Karan Johar or casting director Mukesh Chhabra and your first contact may be their assist / receptionist etc. who are gatekeepers of top people. These lower level people are extremely important to your success mission to help you to develop contact with top industry persons.
  • Make a daily plan to visit  at least 4 people  from the list below. Develop persistence. Don't give up.  Visit repeatedly till you meet them.
  • Don't pay any money to anybody at any level. However, keep small gifts like pens, small diaries, card holders, small bottles of hand sanitizers, small size packets of tissue papers etc for gatekeepers and junior contacts.
  • Once you are successful in contacting concerned people, immediately thank them by email, post but never through a phone call unless they give you their contact No. Prepare a follow-up plan of contacting them once 15 days or a month and do it!
  • With casting directors or coordinators with whom you have registered, either directly or through their juniors, keep contacting them through visits or through phone(if permitted), auditions opportunities for you and other events. The objective is to keep you on their radar.
  • Now, here is the list nobody will give you.

5 Audition Success Steps To Let Your Audition Go With Bang

5 simple steps to win auditions

Not Winning Auditions? Here Are 5 Great Audition Steps To Grab Film/TV Roles

1 – Learn Your Lines

You’ll be asked to perform a piece from the script – so make sure you know it and remember if possible, word by word. In a regular audition, you’ll get a minus mark if you’re less than word perfect. So I expect the same from you here, at the start of your career.

2 – Make Decisions How To Play The Character

Think long and hard, and decide what’s really going on in your character’s world (The one you are going to portray). What’s that about the character not mentioned in the script? Don’t just speak your lines like hundreds of others. Don't be uncertain. Decide.

3 – Don't Hesitate To Take Risks

You’ll get nowhere by playing it safe. So listen to that inside voice of yours, telling you to "go out and don't worry". Do something different, to bring out hidden qualities in your character. Free and open up...

4 – Make The Best Use Of Space Allowed In Front Of Camera Or The Room

If there is a scene, may be your co-actor in the audition room, think how would your character move, do things and fill the space? For example, would the character pick things up? Play with objects? Use the doors and windows? Fiddle with light switches? Involve the furniture?

5 – Be On Time

The casting people are looking at your attitude just as much as your talent. So even if there’s valid reason, a train or bus strike and the city grinds to a halt, they want to see you there on time. That shows how you are committed.

Okay – so follow these steps

Start with a bang

And your audition should go with BANG!

Bollywood Star Isn't For You | "Be An Actor, First"~Ajay Devgn

Frustrations! Why could I not become a Bollywood Actor/
Frustrations! Why could I not become a Bollywood Actor

The launch of Tata Sky's 'Acting Adda

Caution Before You Dream To Be A Film Star

  1. Don't Jump Into Sea  Without Learning Swimming. You Will Drown
  2. Learn Acting And Understand Film Industry
  3. It Takes Many Years Of Struggle, Money and PatienceTo Be a Bollywood Star
  4. Start To Be An actor, First

Ajay Devgn (One of the top Bollywood actor-producer) says aspiring actors should be passionate about the craft and not chase stardom.

"Whenever we go to small towns and interact with people they say they have wished to act since childhood and ask how one can go about it. But I question them, 'Do you want to be a star or an actor?'
"Some say they want to be a star and I feel they can't do anything. If you are interested in acting, you've to learn it. Only then you will become a star," Ajay said.

The actor was speaking at the launch of Tata Sky's 'Acting Adda', an initiative app by actor Suniel Shetty and casting director Mukesh Chhabra.

Ajay said aspiring actors do not have a platform to showcase their talent and the initiative will give them a stage.

Suniel said many people come in the industry with dreams but often quit in the middle due to lack of opportunities. There is no money required to be in this profession.

  • *The example is this blog where an aspiring actor can read posts and practice them at home.
  • Headshots pictures can be taken with mobile camera
  • A free website of an actor can be created and promoted online
  • The profile can be registered, posted and audition information can be found on many on the website like bollywoodhunts, com
*Contact for a personal acting coaching

"It is hard work but the only thing which is required here is talent... There are so many who want to learn acting but very few to teach them," he said.

Chhabra (*A leading casting director) said through the platform they can provide new talent to the industry.
"We will search for new actors through this platform and bring them to the industry. Every director today wants new actors so through this platform we will groom new talent and give them more work," he said.

    You Are Bound To Fail

For A Guaranteed Success As An Actor, Reads Below:

Yes, I’m writing about why you DIDN’T get the role in an audition. Yes, even though your audition was amazing and you lit up the room with creative acting genius, you still might not get the part. I know,… you’re probably thinking, “.. But Kiran Sir, you are always so positive. Why are you talking about something negative?”
First, it’s not negative to understand why you didn’t get a job because it will free your mind of all that silly thoughts and reasons when you find out you didn’t get it. Second, and this is one of the most  important parts of learning so pay attention.
Since this is one of the most frequently asked questions to me by my present and ex students, I decided to answer it, hitting the bull’s eye!
Based on my years of experience as an actor and a short filmmaker, these are some of the reasons you didn’t get the role. They are for both-male and female actors

    The Reasons

    1. You’re too tall.
    2. You’re too short.
    3. You’re too pretty.
    4. You’re not pretty enough.
    5. You’re too fat.
    6. You’re too thin.
    7. You’re too old.
    8. You’re too young.
    9. You’re too serious.
    10. You’re too funny.
    11. You look too much like the lead (Hero/Heroine).
    12. You don’t look enough like the lead.(Hero/Heroine).
    13. You’re taller than the lead. (Hero/Heroine).
    14. You’re shorter than the lead. (Hero/Heroine).
    15. You remind the producer of his sister, and he hates his sister.
    16. You are too ethnic. (For example villager, farmer, Punjabi, South Indian, Oriental looking etc.)
    17. You are not ethnic enough. (For example villager, farmer, Punjabi, South Indian, Oriental looking etc.)
    18. You were the first one to give audition that day.
    19. You were the last one to give audition that day.
    20. You look more like a friend than the lead.
    21. You’re more like a lead than the  friend.
    22. You look like the director’s wife and he had a fight with his wife right before he left the house this morning.
Okay, this is a small sample of the some of the reasons you didn’t get the role.
Remember, none of these are within your control. NONE!
However, there could be a positive aspect.
I strongly recommend you to do some research before you go for an audition. Perhaps, try to contact casting directors, assistant director or director before and find everything about the character you would be auditioning for. In case if you are not meeting some of the above mentioned, at least, physical profile of the character, reconsider your decision of going to auditions.
What you must understand is that your only job in an audition is to do your best work. Everything else is not up to you. The role for which you are performing in an audition is one piece of an entire puzzle. All the pieces of the puzzle must fit, for you to grab the role. The casting director, producer, and director are also fitting pieces of the puzzle together all day long. Your only job is to be the best “piece” you can be. Whether your piece of efforts fit in the slot for that piece is not up to you.
Just go to your audition. Do your best and let it go! If you’re good, they will remember you.
    And now, cheer up!

How Living By Simple 3 Words Can Make You A Top Actor

Remember 3 words and be a successful actor

    1. Truthful

The audience likes an actors acting which truthfully portrays all about seeing and exploring the truths in life and relationships. This is why actors must be completely honest with their own truths. Try to turn the mobile camera around you with some help and see yourself in the eyes of the industry—not in their own eyes, or those of their mother/partner/friend. These people tell us what we want to hear. But actors need, to be honest with exactly what they’re bringing to the table.
Yes, this even includes being honest about your range of your acting instrument- physical and mental. (We all want to be the prettiest, sexiest, hottest, youngest, good voice etc. etc., but the majority of film and television roles represent real people portraying real lives. Just be you.) Cameras don’t lie. You can’t either. Own everything about who you are by just being honest.

    2. Practical

Just as you must be honest with yourself you also have to be realistic about who you are, what you have to offer, and where you fit in. We all think we can play every part. Unfortunately, that’s not true.
Your acting roles all fall within who you are, which is set by your look and personality. They also depend on your ability to truthfully portraying a character and what new and thrilling can you add to the role.
You have to be realistic about where you fit in this industry today, not where you hopefully will be after a few years or at the end of a five-year career. Don't start dreaming that a single or few of successes makes you "The Guy" or "The Girl" for every role.
You must figure out, realistically, what roles you’re right for today based on your look, physicality, background, and acting ability, and then go after those. It’s easier to target and achieve something attainable than an unrealistic dream. Keep setting goals for yourself, just keep them realistic.

    3. Impressive

In India or even Internationally Casting directors get up to 1,000 submissions per role. They don’t put out calls for “whatever,” “kind of,” or “we’re really not sure” characters. Because they are too busy and overburdened, they don't like actors who are not specific and are not good to meet. At auditions, at interviews and on the set, an actor with good body language, diction, smile, perfect and meeting etiquette plays a significant role in noticing an actor and in developing a positive attitude.

Take an honest, realistic, and specific look at who you are and how you present yourself. This can be one of the most difficult tasks for an actor, so seek help from your acting coach, teachers, artist coordinators, assistant casting directors or directors, ...whoever can help you achieve the most truthful self-evaluation. Show the industry that you're a professional in that you know exactly who you are, exactly what you have to offer, and exactly where you belong.

How To Create A Huge Impression In 7 Seconds And Win Auditions

    FeedShark

Can You create a good first good impression in 7 seconds
Can You create a good first good impression in 7 seconds

You Only Have 7 Seconds To Leave A Good First Impression. Here's How You Can Do It.

    • There are 86,400 seconds in a day. More than 30 million seconds in a year.
    • But it only takes 7 seconds to form a first impression.
    • And these 7 seconds can change your coming years if not the entire life.
    • 10 seconds to leave an impressive first impression on the casting director.
    • 10 seconds to give a stunning performance in a film or TV serial
    • 7 seconds to impress your film / TV serial episode viewers to make you a star

    First Impression

    • If You Make A Bad First Impression, You Can Hardly Change It Afterwards
    • Some people believe the first impression isn’t that important. People can eventually understand who we are actually capable of through interaction afterward.
    • Has this been proved? No, but of course we hope we can.
    • The science has revealed at least twice the effort is required to change the first impression.

    1. Impressing others means changing ourselves to fit into other's expectations

First impressions have a significant effect on the selection process and people involved in the casting of actors-casting directors, Film and TV directors and others with whom you will be in contact and would play a definite role in the success of your acting career.

In a first impression, the person you are meeting is looking for answers to three basic things about you: "Do you fit into the character well?", “Are you a better performing actor compared to others?”, "Do you trustworthy and easy to work?"
Some people seem to have a natural charisma that leaves no doubt about these questions. For the rest of us, there are some simple steps to take that improve the chances of making a mark in any first social or business meeting.

The key is that we want the others to feel good by our presence as if the way we want to be treated when we meet new friends.
True. We should not judge a book by its cover. But who will bother picking up the book if its cover scares people off? In order for others to explore us further and deeper, we need to seek a way for them to be interested in us at the very first.
Be like a book with rich content as well as an attractive cover.

    2. Physical Appearance Matters. We’re Visual Creatures After All

Before actually knowing you deeper through interaction, physical appearance is the first clue one relies on to interpret who we are.
Besides, it is a way to show respect by choosing appropriate attire for different settings. It also means the person means something to us by dressing properly.
If it is a formal setting, be aware of the dress code or culture. The requirement varies from culture to culture. A thumbs-up here does not mean the same elsewhere. Do the research!
Grooming and dressing are the keys here. Are you cleanly shaved? Is your hairstyle messy? Are the clothes neat and tidy? The neatness and tidiness from all these little areas affect much on the impression on the whole.

    3. How To Practice 'Fake It'  Strategy

    A. Put Best Efforts To Smile Or Fake It

Trying to fake your way to success seems doubtful at best. And yet, there is plenty of science that proves you can actually fool yourself and others into becoming more successful, finding love, and increasing your happiness. Researchers have found that “acting” a certain way allows your brain to “rehearse” a new way of thinking and can set off the desired chain of events in the future
    Practice Saying "Cheese"

    B. Strike A Powerful Pose

A good standing or a sitting pose will make you look confident radiating positivity

    C. Pretend You Know The Answer

Even if not 100% sure and it's your guess, behave and give answers confidently. As an actor, basically, the decision makers are interested in your performance and not in right or wrong.
Don’t rush your answer. Think thoroughly before any words come out of our mouth. Rapid answering gives an impression of insecurity and anxiety. Yet, don’t stay too long to answer or you appear hesitant.

    4. Look Into People’s Eyes

Maintaining a moderate amount of eye contact delivers a sense of intimacy to the one we interact with. Consequently, they feel more connected to us and tend to be more positive toward the interaction and our content.
What makes a quality eye contact? Well, try to identify the color of the others’ irises (in the center small color circle). Get it? That makes a good eye contact example.
Moreover, numerous studies have shown that eye contact is associated with the following traits:
    Attractive. Competent. Trustworthy. Sincere. Confident.
Are these the impression we want to leave? Stop staring at the ground and look at people in the eye then!

    5. It's Not What You Speak But How You Speak

    • Check your dress and grooming
    • Continue smiling mildly while speaking
    • Keep eye contact
    • The tempo matters too. Never speak too fast. It’s difficult to capture the gist in a machine-gun style of flow. It is lethal to any interaction. It is deadly to our impression.
    • Instead, talk with ease. Have a steady and calm flow. Properly segment our sentences to ensure the others can follow us and get the idea.
    • Voice and tones play a role too. Moderate alternation of speaking tones avoids us sounding too dull and monotonous. A slightly raise or dip of tone can hint on the important part of the message. Raise of volume also works.
    • In the end, we will find ourselves sounding more appealing than we can imagine.

    6. Be A Good Listener

Remember conversation is a turn-taking action. We talk. They listen. They respond. We listen.
It is simply nonsense to constantly talking, depriving others of their opportunities to speak.
While listening, take notes of what the others are talking about. Attend to the others’ speaking by leaning slightly toward them.

    7. Give Compliments

Look for something to praise the others. It can bring closer one another and connect with others more.
Remember conversation is interactive. If we praise the others, they are more willing to praise us and BINGO! We get the desired remarks and impression.

Remember that 7 seconds are enough to change your life!
